FirstEnergy Pa. Utilities To See Up To 30% Increase in Price To Compare on Sept. 1 (Met-Ed, Penelec, Penn Power)

The FirstEnergy Pennsylvania utilities have filed new tariffed PTCDefault rates with the PUC for the three-month period starting September 1, 2016, with residential rates at Met-Ed, Penelec, and Penn Power increasing anywhere from 16% to 28%.

The PTCDefault rates are the all-in default service rates without the application of the State Tax Adjustment Surcharge (essentially, the PTC prior to application of the STAS), which is currently 0%. Official Prices to Compare have not yet been posted.

At Met-Ed, the tariffed residential PTCDefault rate will be 6.902¢/kWh effective September 1, a 16% increase from the current 5.945¢/kWh

At Penelec, the tariffed residential PTCDefault rate will be 7.724¢/kWh effective September 1, a 28% increase from the current 6.020¢/kWh

At Penn Power, the tariffed residential PTCDefault rate will be 7.979¢/kWh effective September 1, a 17% increase from the current 6.819¢/kWh

At West Penn Power, the tariffed residential PTCDefault rate will be 6.061¢/kWh effective September 1, versus the current 6.410¢/kWh

At Met-Ed, the tariffed commercial PTCDefault rate will be 6.957¢/kWh effective September 1, versus the current 6.916¢/kWh

At Penelec, the tariffed commercial PTCDefault rate will be 6.899¢/kWh effective September 1, versus the current 6.465¢/kWh

At Penn Power, the tariffed commercial PTCDefault rate will be 7.387¢/kWh effective September 1, versus the current 7.498¢/kWh

At West Penn Power, the tariffed commercial PTCDefault rate will be 7.986¢/kWh effective September 1, versus the current 7.338¢/kWh
