NRG Retail Sees Strongest Second Quarter Performance Ever
NRG Energy said that its retail mass market segment saw its strongest second quarter performance ever, with Adjusted EBITDA of $213 million, versus $209 million a year ago
The record EBITDA was driven by:
• Lower operating expenses as a result of cost saving measures
• Favorable gross margin as a result of lower supply costs
• Partially offset by the impact of milder weather and lower rates charged to customers
NRG also said that it maintained its recurring customer count, supported by successful retention efforts in both Texas and the East
NRG's retail mass market recurring customer count was 2.771 million as of Q2 2016, versus 2.770 million as of Q1 2016
Volumes for the second quarter of 2016 for the retail mass market business were 10.1 TWh, versus 10.2 TWh a year ago
