Michigan Utility Seeks Changes To Rates Applicable To Choice Customers

HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative has sought Michigan PSC approval for changes in its distribution rates for under the Primary Service Rate and Large Power Service Rate applicable to customers who elect choice.

For Primary Service Rate - Choice customers (Schedule PSDS-C), HomeWorks proposes to set the Billing Rate as follows:

Billing Demand Charge          $6.70/kW
Demand Minimum Charge          $2.22/kW
Variable Distribution Charge   $0.0000/kWh

Currently, the Billing Rate for Primary Service Rate - Choice customers (Schedule PSDS-C) is:

Billing Demand Charge          $10.90/kW
Variable Distribution Charge   $.0000/kWh

For Large Power Service Rate - Choice customers (Schedule CD-C), HomeWorks proposes to update certain of the Billing Rates as follows:

Demand Charge                  $3.39/kW
Variable Distribution Charge   $0.01120/kWh

Currently, relevant Billing Rates for Large Power Service Rate - Choice customers (Schedule CD-C) are:

Demand Charge                  $4.10/kW
Variable Distribution Charge   $.0100/kWh

For Large Power Service Rate - Choice (Schedule CD-C) customers, there would be no change in the applicable monthly availability charge of $78.50 per month or annual availability charge of $942.00 per year

Both Primary Service Rate - Choice and Large Power Service Rate - Choice customers would also still be subject to the Energy Optimization Surcharge as is the case currently

HomeWorks sought ex parte approval of the changes, stating that it has no customers taking service under either of the choice rates.

Under Michigan statute, co-op customers 1 MW or larger may elect choice service
