Griddy Energy LLC has applied for a Texas retail electric provider certificate.

Griddy Energy LLC is an affiliate of Northeast retail supplier Star Energy Partners LLC, which is currently active in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, and soon to be Maryland (and is also licensed in D.C.).

In its application, Griddy Energy stated that it has built a unique, proprietary technology platform. Griddy's customers will be charged the applicable 15-minute interval rate in the ERCOT real-time market, plus a daily management fee of less than $1.00. Through Griddy's proprietary online portal, each consumer will have real-time access to the cost of the wholesale energy they consume.

Griddy stated in the application that it will operate as a prepaid REP, which allows consumers to pay as they go. "Instead of being confronted with a non-negotiable bill each month, the consumer will instead have access to the portal at any time, which shows their daily usage and the rate at 15-Minute price intervals. The consumer will pre-fund an account that will get drawn upon daily based on that consumer's usage. Consumers will have access to these tools to see market real-time prices and to receive communication on events and opportunities. Hourly price signals will empower the consumer to profit from the ever-changing marginal cost of electricity generation. Instead of being driven by utility/REP demand, consumer behavior will be informed and molded based on price signals or genuine demand response to help ERCOT manage the grid. Consumers will also be empowered to obtain information directly from the portal without having to contact their REP, which helps streamline customer service communications," Griddy stated

Leadership of Griddy Energy LLC includes CEO Gregory Craig, Executive Vice President Nicholas Bain, and CFO David Cass, all of whom hold the same role at Star Energy Partners. Anwar Rohan, pricing manager at Star Energy Partners, will serve the same role at Griddy Energy

Several individuals will perform duties exclusively for Griddy Energy and not other affiliates, including Jeremy Zarowitz, VP of Supply, Luke Dallafior, CMO, and Jason Rudder, CIO

Zarowitz most recently served as Manager, Business Analysts at Direct Energy, and previously held risk management, supply and trading roles at Just Energy, Calpine, and Inupiat Energy Marketing

Dallafior previously co-founded Tritium Security as well as ClearWidth, an IT company. Dallafior also previously served as General Manager & Group Vice President - Communications Solutions at British Telecom (BT) - Infonet, and as President - BellSouth International Access

Rudder previously held senior positions at CoinX and served as CTO at Trucoin, both of which are bitcoin exchanges. Rudder also held positions at Tritium Security, ClearWidth, and BT - Infonet

Emily Cipes serves as Director of Compliance and Customer Operations at Griddy Energy
