Consumers Energy in Michigan touted a 36¢/Mcf decline in the default service natural gas supply rate versus last winter.

Specifically, the Gas Cost Recovery charge for October 2016 is $2.9546/Mcf

That compares to a GCR charge of $3.3134/Mcf in October 2015

"Consumers Energy is able to keep prices low thanks to a strategy of buying gas when it costs less in the summer and storing it the company's underground storage system, the largest of its type in the nation. The gas can then be used in the winter, helping Consumers Energy avoid buying gas that would be more expensive," Consumers Energy said
