ERCOT issued a market notice stating that, under revised Reliability Must-Run (RMR) study metrics, NRG Texas Power LLC's Greens Bayou Unit 5 is not needed for RMR service beyond July 31, 2017

Previously, ERCOT entered an RMR agreement for Greens Bayou Unit 5 (GBY_GBY_5) to provide 371 MW upon request for the periods July through September 2016, June through September 2017, and June 2018.

As previously reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, the ERCOT Board on October 11, 2016 approved Nodal Protocol Revision Request (NPRR) 788, RMR Study Modifications, which became effective October 12, 2016.

ERCOT has completed additional studies for GBY_GBY_5 incorporating NPRR788 criteria and confirmed that the GBY_GBY_5 is still needed to support ERCOT transmission system reliability.

However, the additional studies indicate that GBY_GBY_5 is only needed until July 31, 2017 when the 1,100 MW Colorado Bend II Generation Resource is expected to become operational, ERCOT said

ERCOT also announced in a news release the determination that Calpine Clear Lake units will not be needed for RMR service under the revised RMR study metrics, as first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com last week
