"The National Energy Marketers Association (NEM) is pleased to hold its 2016 Policy Leadership Roundtable in Austin, Texas to honor the industry leaders who have set a national standard of excellence in electricity market structure, as well as, competitively offered consumer energy and technology products and services. From the starting point of SB7, Texas has become recognized as the leading electric retail choice market in the country," said Craig Goodman, President of NEM and former high ranking energy policy official under three presidential administrations of both parties.

Experts including Chairman Donna Nelson of the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUC), Texas State Senator Robert Hall, Former Texas PUC and FERC Chairman Pat Wood, former Chair of both the Texas PUC as well as the Texas Railroad Commission Barry Smitherman, and current ERCOT President Bill Magness will join over a hundred other national experts and Presidents and CEOs of energy and technology companies from across North America to guide a high-level Energy Policy Roundtable on October 27-28, 2016 in Austin Texas, NEM said

Apart from keynotes from several of the industry thought leaders noted above, NEM's Austin roundtable will feature discussions concerning:

• Texas Retail Electric Market Issues – Current regulatory issues in the retail electric market, including potential revisions to the Power to Choose website and the consumer protection regulations.

• ERCOT Market – Review of benefits, successes and challenges of energy-only market; Strategies for successful integration of wind, solar and other distributed energy resources on the grid; impact of increase in system-wide offer cap; implications of EPA’s Clean Power Plan

• Technology, Alternative Products and Future Market Insights - After fifteen years of retail electric choice in Texas, where is the next wave of product, pricing and technology innovation heading? What market tools remain to be implemented, and/or what rule changes could be made, to facilitate even more innovation from retailers for their customers.
