Retail Supplier Offering Free Charging For Electric Vehicles, Including In Texas
Clearview Energy announced that it now offers free home electric vehicle (EV) charging, in certain hours, for all of its customers.
Specifically, Clearview Energy announced a partnership with EV charging provider ChargePoint under which EV owners with a ChargePoint Home station will enjoy free vehicle charging during certain hours
In the Oncor service area in Texas, Clearview offers two specific plans ("Clear Charge" plan) which include the free charging, is offered as a 12-month or 24-month fixed rate, with 100% renewable energy
The plan includes free EV Charging 7PM Friday to 7AM Monday, and also includes $75 cash back on a new ChargePoint Home Residential EV Charger
At Oncor, Clearview's 12-month fixed "Clear Charge" plan includes an average all-in rate of 10.8¢/kWh, reflecting an energy charge of 5.1¢/kWh, a monthly base charge of $15, and TDU charges. A $200 early termination fee applies.
In other markets such as Illinois, Maryland, and New Jersey, Clearview offers a 12-month fixed plan with free EV charging during the weekend (same hours as noted above). In such markets, free charging only applies to the supply portion of the bill and reimbursed kilowatt-hours cannot exceed 250 kWh per billing period.. EV charging costs are refunded to the consumer in the form of a reimbursement.
