The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio granted Rice Energy Marketing LLC a retail natural gas supplier license to serve all customer classes, including residential customers, at Dominion East Ohio

Rice Energy Marketing LLC is a unit of Rice Energy, the natural gas exploration & production and midstream company which also markets gas at wholesale

At the time of its Ohio retail supplier application, which had been first reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, Rice Energy Marketing LLC (REM) was not currently certified, licensed, registered or otherwise authorized to provide retail natural gas service anywhere in the U.S.

As of such date, Rice Energy Marketing LLC had only sold natural gas volumes in the wholesale marketplace.

"Currently, REM sources a large amount of supply to marketing companies who then use this production as part of the Dominion-East Ohio Choice program. It is our intent to provide all ancillary services and functions to be able to do this directly with Dominion in order to reach these customers directly. This may or may not include the need for purchasing third party supply in order to deliver gas volumes directly to DEO city-gates," Rice Energy Marketing said in its November application

Rice Energy Marketing manages over 1.4 BCFD of natural gas in the wholesale market. The specific operations of REM include trading, nomination and scheduling, managing pipeline imbalances, origination and working with the upstream and midstream segments at Rice Energy to reliably deliver product to markets each day. Rice Energy Marketing manages natural gas production across the United States, including in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas

As of its November application, Rice Energy Marketing is active on the following interstate and intrastate pipelines.

• Dominion East-Ohio

• Rockies Express Pipeline

• Columbia Gas Transmission

• Dominion Transmission

• Tennessee Gas Pipeline

• Texas Eastern Transmission

• ANR Pipeline

• Natural Gas Pipeline of America (NGPL)

• Columbia Gulf Transmission

Rice Energy controls approximately 336,000 effective stacked net acres in the Marcellus and Ohio Utica Shale cores. The company produces 747 MMcfe/d net production as of Q3 2016. Rice Energy has an estimated 1,200 drilling locations in inventory.
