AEP Texas North Reports Remaining Funds For REP Smart Device Reimbursement Program
AEP Texas North Division filed a further update with the Texas PUC concerning the program under which Texas retail electric providers are reimbursed for providing no-cost programmable communicating thermostats (PCT) and in-home displays (IHD) to eligible low-income customers.
Under the program launched in January 2015, for providing an eligible low-income customer with an eligible programmable communicating thermostat (PCT) or in-home display (IHD) at no cost to the customer, a TDU reimburses the REP for the cost of a device up to a cap of $250, with an additional 25% for administrative costs, for a total reimbursement cap of $300 per device. For PCTs only, an additional $125 is reimbursed to cover the cost of installation.
AEP Texas North said that it has nearly $83,000 in funds remaining for REP reimbursements as of December 31, 2016, from the original $200,000 which was made available.
During the reporting period of November 1, 2016, through December 31, 2016, AEP Texas North reported there were 0 PCTs and 224 IHDs distributed in its service territory for a total of 224 devices. AEP Texas North provided $37,800 in reimbursements to participating REPs during this period
As previously reported, AEP Texas North is the only TDU where program funds remain available for REP reimbursement
