Energy Management, Data Veteran Launches New Broker in Texas

Start-up Stratis Energy Services, LLC applied for a Texas electric aggregator certificate to serve residential, commercial, and industrial customers.

Stratis Energy Services was formed in late 2016 and is currently operating as a broker in Texas. The company plans to enter additional states, potentially in late 2017

Gilbert Velasquez serves as principal at Stratis Energy Services

Velasquez previously held a variety of positions in energy management and energy data management

Velasquez previously worked to develop operation processes and methods for the deployment of a multi-property home energy management system for the military that included smart devices and an internet portal installed in residences to capture appliance power consumption and gas consumption in 15-minute intervals. The data was then loaded to a customer specific portal where customers could see their consumption and also aggregated and submitted to the military housing commander

Velasquez has also worked on the deployment of smart meters, AMI/AMR network, and meter data management systems and demand response programs by a vendor at the FirstEnergy EDCs in Pennsylvania

Most recently, Velasquez worked with large national retailers to install energy management systems and energy savings technologies, including metering, sub metering (lights, HVAC, refrigeration), VFD applications, LED lighting retrofits, and data collection and analysis

Previously, Velasquez co-founded a broker/online portal for marketing DSL service to customers. Velasquez has also held a variety of roles in the wireless and telecomm industries
