PUCO Reports Price From DP&L Default Service Auction

The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) has accepted the results of Dayton Power & Light Company’s (DP&L) wholesale auction results, the first in a series of wholesale auctions that will ultimately determine its standard service offer through May 2020.

During the auction, held April 11, 2017, suppliers submitted bids on one-, two- and three-year products to supply electricity to DP&L’s utility customers.

The one-year product resulted in an average clearing price of $51.45 per megawatt hour (MWh) for the delivery period of June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2018, with 16 tranches procured

The two-year product resulted in an average clearing price of $50.91 per MWh for the delivery period of June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2019, with 17 tranches procured

The three-year product resulted in an average clearing price of $48.65 per MWh for the delivery period of June 1, 2017 to May 31, 2020, with 17 tranches procured

The results will be blended with future auctions (including an auction to be held April 24 which will include, among other products, the other 50% of SSO load for the June 2017-May 2018 term) to establish a price-to-compare for DP&L’s customers during the delivery periods.

There were six winning bidders for the 12-month product, and 4 winning bidders for each of the multi-year products.

The names of the winning bidders will remain confidential for 21 days.
