Pepco Proposes To Offer SOS Customers Electing Pilot EV Rate 100% Renewable Energy

Pilot TOU SOS Rate Would Also Be Created

Utility Would Install 50 EV Chargers At 50% Discount To Customers

Pepco has petitioned the District of Columbia PSC for an electric vehicle demand management pilot that would include the ability for Pepco to offer SOS customers participating in the pilot 100% renewable electricity

Specifically, as part of a pilot for 100 residential customers, EV customers would have a separate meter installed for EV charging, subject to a plug-in vehicle (PIV) rate

The PIV rate would be open to SOS customers and customers served by a competitive supplier. For PIV SOS customers, rather than the standard SOS rate, SOS rates would be Time of Use, with the TOU SOS rates designed by applying the winter and summer SOS rates for Pepco DC Schedule R to the on-and off-peak ratios in effect for Pepco MD.

Additionally, "SOS Customers selecting a PIV-specific rate also will have the option of receiving electricity consisting of 100% renewable energy (PIV-Green) in the form of an 'Adder' to the PIV-specific rate," Pepco said

"Based on current procurement costs, the Adder would increase the rate by $0.0364 per kWh. The Adder will allow the customers to have their energy supplied from 100% green energy," Pepco said

Separately, Pepco proposes to pilot a "whole house" Time of Use rate for 500 residential SOS customers with PIVs

Pepco also proposes to install, at 50% of cost, EV chargers for 50 residential customers, and proposes pilot installation of 10 EV chargers at multi-family dwellings and 4 at public locations
