Nstar Residential, Commercial Default Service Rates To Increase July 1 (Residential Rate 31% Higher Than Year-Ago Second Half Rate)

Nstar has filed with the Massachusetts DPU new electric basic service rates for the period beginning July 1, 2017.

While the new mass market rates are marginally higher (about 5 mills per kWh depending on class) than the current 2017 rates, the rates are significantly higher than the year-ago residential and small commercial rates in effect during the second half of 2016 (prior comparable period).

For example, the fixed residential Nstar basic service rates for July 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017 is 10.759¢/kWh (includes adders as discussed below). This compares to the current residential rate of 10.318¢/kWh, but is 31% higher than the second half of 2016 rate of 8.208¢/kWh that was in effect from July 2016 to December 2016

All rates in this story include (for the relevant time period) the Basic Service Adders and Renewable Portfolio Standard and Alternative Energy Portfolio Standard Adders
