Repeating a trend seen in May, the month of June saw the largest monthly net decline in number of Pennsylvania residential electric customers on competitive supply since September 2015, though PPL saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply surge

From late May 2017 to late June 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by 5,100 accounts, versus a decline of 4,800 accounts from late April 2017 to late May 2017

As previously reported, the May decline (and now the June decline) was the largest net monthly decline in statewide residential electric shopping since September 2015 (when a net decline of 22,000 accounts was recorded)

Six of the seven large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from May to June

In contrast, PPL, which during May had seen its first net growth in the number of residential accounts on competitive supply since October 2015, saw the number of residential accounts on competitive supply increase by nearly 2,500 accounts from May to June, up significantly from the modest growth during May.

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late May 2017 to late June 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (645)
Met-Ed (1,068)
PECO (2,653)
Penelec (1,982)
Penn Power (381)
PPL 2,436
West Penn Power (838)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each utility from late April 2017 to late May 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) had been:

Duquesne Light (771)
Met-Ed 441
PECO (3,210)
Penelec (767)
Penn Power (253)
PPL 107
West Penn Power (309)
