Smart Meters To Be Deployed To Former Sharyland Customers Under Proposed Oncor Acquisition

Sharyland Utilities, L.P., Sharyland Distribution & Transmission Services, L.L.C., and Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC have filed at the Texas PUC for approval of the previously reported stipulated plan, agreed to by a group of stakeholders, for Oncor to acquire Sharyland's retail distribution system and customers.

One note from the application is that the stipulation calls for the deployment of advanced meters for the former Sharyland service areas.

Oncor expects to complete AMS deployment in the legacy Sharyland service territories by December 31, 2018.

The application further discusses the transition timeline for the legacy Sharyland customers.

The transition of all such legacy Sharyland customers is expected to take one to two billing cycles to complete -- or approximately 30 to 60 days after closing.

The stipulation provides that as part of the plans discussed above, Oncor will establish new electric service identifiers ("ESIDs") for each existing ESID currently assigned to Sharyland. Each new Oncor ESID will be assigned to the corresponding Oncor rate class under the applicable tariff provision. Oncor shall provide reasonable notice to the customer's REP of record as to the assigned rate class for each ESID. After a customer's transition to Oncor under this process, the customer will be served by Oncor and charged Oncor's standard retail electric delivery rates. "Joint Applicants have agreed to provide the affected REPs with reasonable advance notice of the anticipated closing date of the Proposed Transaction, any meetings of the workshop participants, and the date that the ESID transitions will begin," the application states
