Pennsylvania saw the net decrease in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply nearly double during July, compared to the net loss seen in June.

From late June 2017 to late July 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by 9,200 accounts, versus a decline of 5,100 accounts from late May 2017 to late June 2017

The July decline was the largest net monthly decline in statewide residential electric shopping since September 2015 (when a net decline of 22,000 accounts was recorded)

Six of the seven large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from June to July

PPL saw its third consecutive month of net growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply, but the July growth (600) was well below the June growth (2,500)

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late June 2017 to late July 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (464)
Met-Ed (1,842)
PECO (2,993)
Penelec (2,110)
Penn Power (456)
PPL 573
West Penn Power (1,938)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each utility from late May 2017 to late June 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) had been:

Duquesne Light (645)
Met-Ed (1,068)
PECO (2,653)
Penelec (1,982)
Penn Power (381)
PPL 2,436
