Texas Retail Providers Requesting Low-Income Customer Sync List Collectively Serve 92% Of Such Low-Income Customers
Staff of the Texas PUC issued a memo concerning retail electric provider participation in requesting a list of low-income customers, and also proposing to set costs applicable to REPs for creating the list
Staff reported that there are 62 REPs that are eligible to participate in the process of matching to identify low-income customers. Of the 62 REPs, 35 REPs filed requests for the low-income customer list in project 47261. This represents 56% of the eligible REPs. Seven of the named REPs also include at least one other company name through which the REP conducts business.
In total, the REPs that have requested the low-income customer list represent 92% of the identified low-income customers served by REPs, Staff reported
The cost for providing the matching process is $60,000 annually. Commission Staff previously met with a coalition of REPs to discuss the distribution of costs and an agreement was reached. TXU and NRG agreed to contribute $20,000 each towards the cost of the annual matching process.
The remaining $20,000 will be split evenly among the remaining REPs that request the list by filing in project 47261, with the addition of Entergy Texas.
Apart from NRG and TXU, each REP will therefore pay $540 for the list
