Regulator To Consider Opening Investigation Of Retail Supplier
The Connecticut PURA on August 10 issued a draft decision, for consideration at its August 23 meeting, which would open an investigation of allegations against Liberty Power Holdings, LLC
The draft decision alleges, "The Authority has been presented with numerous customer allegations including complaints that Liberty Power (a) engaged in the enrollment of electric generation service without the customer’s approval, (b) used deceptive or misleading sales tactics during telemarketing and door-to-door enrollment processes, and/or (c) charged early termination fees in excess of amounts authorized by law."
The draft provides no further details concerning the nature or number of the allegations
A Liberty Power spokesperson provided the following statement to EnergyChoiceMatters.com concerning the matter: "Liberty Power only recently became aware of the opening of this proceeding. While we cannot comment on any specifics at this time, Liberty Power takes both the quality of our program and these allegations very seriously and will fully cooperate with the Authority."
The draft decision would re-open Liberty Power Holdings, LLC's licensing docket to investigate these allegations pursuant to the General Statutes of Connecticut §§16-245, 16-245o, 16-245u, 16-245t, 16-245s, 16-41 and 4-182
