Regulator Delegates Authority To Review, Grant Supplier and Broker Renewal Applications
The Massachusetts DPU has delegated to the Director of the Electric Power Division and the Director of the Gas Division the authority to review and grant license renewal applications filed by suppliers and brokers/retail agents of electricity and natural gas, respectively
Supplier and broker/agent licenses are valid for one year from the date of the approval.
The Division Directors, subject to the supervision and control of the Commission, shall have the authority to review renewal applications received from suppliers and retail agents and brokers and to grant such applications upon determining that the applicant has met its ongoing obligations under applicable statutes and rules, and that there has been no material change in the applicant’s circumstances from the approval of the applicant’s license or approval of the applicant’s most recent renewal. If the Division Director determines that there has been a material change in an applicant’s circumstances, the Division Director shall confer with the Commission before any action is taken on the applicant’s renewal application.
This authority applies only to the approval of renewal applications received from suppliers and retail agents/brokers, and does not apply to denials of renewal applications.
