Ambit Energy announced a new free nights plan for Texas residential customers, plus a new plan providing a bill credit for higher usage customers and a new plan with tiered pricing for various usage levels

In the Oncor service area, Ambit's Free & Clear Nights plan, which is 100% wind, has a 0¢ charge for the hours of 9:00 p.m. to 5:59 a.m. and a 13.39¢/kWh energy charge for all other hours. Per the EFL, the Oncor TDU volumetric charge of 3.6513¢/kWh is applicable in daytime hours only. An Oncor flat TDU charge of $5.25 also applies, as does an Ambit base charge of $9.95 per month. The all-in EFL-quoted rate at 1,000 kWh is 13.1¢/kWh. The product is an indexed product with a 12-month term. At least 51% of the wind will be Texas-based for this plan

In the Oncor service area, Ambit's Lone Star Advantage 12 plan is a 12-month fixed rate plan with different energy charges based on usage tiers, plus credits paid at certain usage, with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh of 11.7¢/kWh. The Lone Star Advantage 12 plan includes the following components:

Base Charge: $9.95 per month
Energy Charge:
  (0 - 1200 kWh) $0.0650/kWh
  (1201 - 2000 kWh) $0.0340/kWh
  (>2000 kWh) $0.0680/kWh
Oncor Delivery Charges:

Additionally, the Lone Star Essential 12 plan includes a $30 bill credit that will be applied for every billing period in which usage for the location is 1,200 kWh or greater

In the Oncor service area, Ambit's Lone Star Essential 12 plan is a 12-month fixed rate plan with different energy charges based on usage tiers, with an average all-in rate, at 1,000 kWh of 10.1¢/kWh. The Lone Star Essential 12 plan includes the following components:

Base Charge: $9.95 per month
Energy Charge:
  (0 - 800 kWh) $0.0500/kWh

  (>1400 kWh) $0.0520/kWh
Oncor Delivery Charges:
  $5.25 per month

For all plans listed above, a $199 early termination fee applies.

However, Ambit also offers a "T.L.C. Pledge" with the plans, so Texas residents can "Try it, Like it or Change it." This means if a customer signs up for the Free & Clear Nights, Lone Star Advantage 12, or Lone Star Essential 12 plan and is not happy with it, they can change to any other Ambit plan for free within 60 days of enrolling in one of the three new plans.

The Free & Clear Nights plan is currently available in every Ambit Texas market where smart meters are available, while the Lone Star Advantage 12 and Lone Star Essential 12 plans are available in the Oncor and CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric service areas
