Pennsylvania Sees Sixth Consecutive Month Of Declining Residential Customers on Competitive Supply
September was the sixth consecutive month in which Pennsylvania saw a net decline in the number of residential customers on competitive electric supply
From late August 2017 to late September 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by nearly 9,000 accounts, versus a decline of nearly 14,000 accounts from late July to late August.
While the September decline was improved versus August's decline, the net 9,000 decline during September still represents significantly elevated monthly losses that, prior to this summer, had not been seen since September 2015
Six of the seven large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from July to August
Additionally, while PPL did see its fifth consecutive month of net growth in the number of residential customers on competitive supply, such growth nearly came to a halt, as PPL saw only a net increase of 100 residential shoppers during September
