Utility's Default Service Rates To Increase Nearly 30%

New Supplier Wins Default Service Load

The New Hampshire PUC has approved new default service rates at Unitil for the six-month period beginning December 1, 2017

For residential customers, the December 2017 to May 2018 fixed default service rate will be 10.034¢ per kWh, including the RPS adder. That's 27% higher than the current rate of 7.886¢ per kWh. For the December 2017 to May 2018 period, the base residential fixed default service rate (excluding RPS adder) is 9.612¢/kWh

Rates for the residential variable rate option are as follows (includes RPS adder)

For small commercial (G2, OL) customers, the December 2017 to May 2018 fixed default service rate will be 9.381¢ per kWh, including the RPS adder. That's 24% higher than the current rate of 7.556¢ per kWh. For the December 2017 to May 2018 period, the base small commercial fixed default service rate (excluding RPS adder) is 8.959¢/kWh

Vitol, Inc. was the winning bidder to supply power for its residential customer group. Since at least 2008, Vitol has not won a default service solicitation at Unitil in New Hampshire

Exelon Generation Company, LLC was the winning bidder to supply power for the small commercial and outdoor lighting group, as well as for its G1 customer group. Each winning bidder will provide 100 percent of power requirements for that customer group for the six-month period beginning December 1, 2017.
