Texas Retail Provider Surpasses 200,000 RCEs, Approaches 100,000 Customers
Discount Power (Texas), a Houston-based retail electric provider, today announced that the company’s RCE (Residential Customer Equivalent) count has crossed 200,000.
In February 2017, Discount Power crossed the 150,000 RCE threshold. Discount Power said that, "In less than eight months, the company acquired 50,000 additional RCEs, despite the fact that the timeframe included Hurricane Harvey and its aftermath."
The company expects to reach the 100,000-customer mark next month.
"We are very proud of the fact that we have reached the 200,000-customer benchmark in just three and a half years, and that too in the highly competitive Texas retail electricity market," said Discount Power Chief Executive Officer Neville Ravji. "I credit the unprecedented growth to the successful execution of our market segmentation strategy, which has allowed us to focus on different market segments with unique marketing strategies and relevant products," Ravji said.
Discount Power is expected to have revenues of $150 million in 2017. While currently exclusively serving customers in Texas, the company plans to expand its service outside of Texas in 2018.
