Direct Energy Formally Launches New Smart Home Bundle Energy Plans
Direct Energy has formally launched "Connect to Control 24" retail electric and natural gas plans that include a smart home Hive Welcome Home Starter Plan
The Connect to Control 24 is now available to all new U.S. customers.
In the Oncor service area of Texas, Direct Energy's Connect to Control 24 plan is a 24-month fixed rate plan with an average all-in rate (at 1,000 kWh) of 9.4¢ per kWh, reflecting an Energy Charge of 4.7¢ per kWh, a Base Charge of $4.95 per month, and Oncor Electric Delivery TDU Charges of $5.25 per month and 3.651¢ per kWh
The Hive Welcome Home Starter Plan will include a Hive Hub, two Hive Active Lights, one Hive Active Plug, and two Hive Window or Door Sensors, and is to be included with a qualifying 24-month electricity and/or natural gas plan.
The Hive Welcome Home Starter Plan enables users to look after their lighting and appliances from their smartphone, allowing customers to turn appliances and electronics on or off, and to control their energy usage from anywhere.
Hive is Centrica's smart home brand
As previously reported, Connected Home is a key area for growth for parent company Centrica plc, with a £500m investment to take the Hive brand multi-market. "With over half a million customers in the UK, the Hive experience is a leading smart home solution, with more than half of customers using their Hive Active Thermostat at least once daily in the winter, and 75 percent of customers recommending it to others," Direct Energy said
