Maine Residential, Small Commercial Default Service Rate To Increase Nearly 15%

The Maine PUC has posted 2018 Standard Offer electricity rates for Emera Maine – Bangor Hydro District (formerly Bangor Hydro-Electric/BHE).

For residential and small commercial customers at BHE, the Standard Offer rate will be 7.225¢/kWh for the period January 2018 through December 2018. That's 14% higher than the current rate of 6.322¢/kWh

For medium C&I customers at BHE, 2018 Standard Offer rates vary by month and are listed below. These medium class prices are about 21% higher than prices during the same twelve month period last year.

Prices for large C&I customers will be indexed to market prices and set shortly in advance of each month, as was done last year for large business Standard Offer service.

The names of the suppliers selected for Emera Maine-BHE will be released in two weeks, allowing time for power supply arrangements to be finalized.
