October was the seventh consecutive month in which Pennsylvania saw a net decline in the number of residential customers on competitive electric supply

From late September 2017 to late October 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by nearly 6,000 accounts, versus a decline of nearly 9,000 accounts from late August to late September.

While the October loss in net residential shopping is an improvement versus recent months, the net 5,700 account decline during October still represents significantly elevated monthly losses that, prior to this summer, had not been seen since September 2015

Six of the seven large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from September to October

In a brighter spot, PPL, which had seen net residential shopping growth approach zero during September, saw a rebound during October with a net increase in the number of residential account on competitive supply of over 1,200 accounts

Additionally, Duquesne Light saw nearly a zero net loss in residential shopping during October, as noted below

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late September 2017 to late October 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (53)
Met-Ed (1,955)
PECO (1,202)
Penelec (2,157)
Penn Power (673)
PPL 1,227
West Penn Power (888)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late August 2017 to late September 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) had been:

Duquesne Light (966)
Met-Ed (1,876)
PECO (3,133)
Penelec (2,051)
Penn Power (514)
PPL 99
West Penn Power (688)
