In Change, Texas Plant Owner Will Mothball, Not Decommission Plant
Barney M Davis LP has informed ERCOT that it now intends to mothball indefinitely, not decommission, the generating unit Barney M Davis Unit 1 (B_DAVIS_B_DAVIG1)
As previously reported, on September 27, 2017, ERCOT had received a Notification of Suspension of Operations (NSO) for Barney M Davis Unit 1 (B_DAVIS_B_DAVIG1) indicating that this Generation Resource would be decommissioned and retired on December 31, 2017. On October 19, 2017, ERCOT issued its initial and final determination pursuant to ERCOT Protocol Sections 3.14.1.2(3) and (5), indicating that the Generation Resource was not necessary to support ERCOT transmission system reliability, and that the Generation Resource could be decommissioned according to the schedule in the NSO (i.e., on December 31, 2017).
On November 16, 2017, Barney M Davis LP submitted a Supplemental NSO stating that the Generation Resource will be mothballed indefinitely, rather than decommissioned, according to the schedule set forth in the original NSO. This change in suspension status does not affect ERCOT’s initial and final determination, and B_DAVIS_B_DAVIG1 may be suspended on December 31, 2017, in accordance with the supplemental NSO.
The original NSO had indicated that the Resource has a summer Seasonal Net Max Sustainable Rating of 300 MW, and a summer Seasonal Net Minimum Sustainable Rating 60 MW.
