ERCOT Board Members Considering Restructuring Retail Market, Commercial Ops Subcommittees
Leadership of ERCOT's Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) has received, "a request from a couple of Board Members to take another look at the Subcommittee structure, specifically for COPS [Commercial Operations Subcommittee] and RMS [Retail Market Subcommittee]," COPS Chair Michelle Trenary wrote in a November 17 email to the COPS listserv
Trenary wrote that, "Bob Helton [TAC Vice Chair] relayed to COPS and RMS leadership yesterday that the combination of RMS sometimes having trouble reaching quorum, COPS moving to mostly WebEx meetings, the desire to reduce meeting participation and support from ERCOT staff, and the desire to increase Market Participant meeting attendance efficiencies are the drivers."
"This topic is going to be on the November 30th TAC meeting agenda. The decision will ultimately be TAC’s, but Bob requested that COPS and RMS leadership frame up the issues for TAC’s Members. It is likely that the TAC will create a group/Task Force, to include WMS, COPS and RMS Subcommittee Leadership and other interested parties, to develop options and return to TAC the following month to present those options for consideration," Trenary wrote
