PPL Electric Utilities during December saw its first net monthly decline in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply since April 2017, as all seven of the large Pennsylvania EDCs saw a decline in residential shopping during December

PPL had been the only EDC in the state to see consistent (albeit modest at times) monthly net growth in residential electric shopping since April

However, from late November 2017 to late December 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), PPL saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decline by over 1,800 accounts. That compares to net growth of 235 residential accounts during November and 1,200 in October

The residential PPL Price to Compare decreased by 12% on December 1

Statewide, from late November 2017 to late December 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by 6,800 accounts, versus a decline of 6,000 accounts from late October to late November.

December marks the ninth consecutive month of declining residential shopping in Pennsylvania on a statewide basis.

All seven large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential customers on competitive supply from November to December

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late November 2017 to late December 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (23)
Met-Ed (1,172)
PECO (1,345)
Penelec (1,256)
Penn Power (211)
PPL (1,863)
West Penn Power (919)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late October 2017 to late November 2017 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) had been:

Duquesne Light 127
Met-Ed (2,042)
PECO (766)
Penelec (2,320)
Penn Power (513)
PPL 235
West Penn Power (732)
