PUCO Grants AEP Ohio Interim Approval To Conduct Default Service Auction While ESP Case Pending
The Public Utility Commission of Ohio granted a petition from AEP Ohio for interim relief authorizing the utility to conduct a March 2018 full requirements auction proposed in a pending non-unanimous stipulation in AEP Ohio's pending electric security plan proceeding, which would set the procurement schedule and other parameters of the Standard Service Offer (SSO)
The non-unanimous settlement, which is pending PUCO review and action, provides that, for SSO supplies for the period beginning June 1, 2018, AEP Ohio would conduct two auctions prior to that date, in November 2017 and March 2018. Each of the auctions would seek to procure 50% (or 50 tranches) of SSO load, broken out into three separate products: 16 tranches of 36- month product, 17 tranches of 24-month product, and 17 tranches of 12-month product.
AEP Ohio previously received interim relief from PUCO allowing it to conduct the contemplated November 2017 auction
AEP Ohio has now received similar relief to conduct the March 2018 auction.
