Oncor Provides Update On Deployment Schedule For Advanced Meters At Sharyland
Oncor has filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas an update concerning the deployment of advanced meters to customers in the former Sharyland Utilities territories which are now part of Oncor.
Oncor plans to begin the deployment of advanced meters to residential and small commercial customers who were previously served by Sharyland in mid-February 2018, and Oncor plans to complete the deployment of those meters by December 31, 2018.
Oncor plans to start and continue that deployment in the following sequence: (1) the Celeste area, (2) the Brady area, (3) the Stanton area, and (4) the McAllen area, but this sequence could change based on operational or other considerations. Oncor expects to install approximately 5,500 advanced meters per month.
Any Oncor customer who was previously served by Sharyland will have access to his or her meter information through the Smart Meter Texas Portal. After an AMS meter is installed, it is automatically recognized by Oncor's existing systems that collect and process the data from that meter remotely. Meters will automatically be included in the Smart Meter Texas portal, although the process through which those meters are established in that portal can take up to one week.
As previously reported, Oncor is not seeking an AMS surcharge for the deployment of AMS meters to Oncor customers who were previously served by Sharyland.
