Pennsylvania Again Sees Net Loss Of 10,000 Residential Electric Shoppers For Month

Pennsylvania saw the number of customers on competitive electric supply decline by nearly 10,000 accounts during February, following a similar decline in January

February 2018 marked the 11th consecutive month that Pennsylvania has seen an aggregate decline in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply

Statewide, from late January 2018 to late February 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of electric customers on competitive supply decrease by over 8,900 accounts, nearly identical to the decline of just over 8,900 from late December to late January.

All seven of the large EDCs saw a decline in the number of residential accounts on competitive supply from late January to late February

PPL, which had seen a decline of 1,375 of residential shoppers from late December to late January, saw the rate of net decline shrink considerably during February, with only a net loss of residential shoppers of 470 from late January 2018 to late February 2018

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late January 2018 to late February 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light        (376)
Met-Ed              (1,457)
PECO                (3,097)
Penelec             (1,193)
Penn Power            (406)
PPL                   (470)
West Penn Power     (1,905)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late December 2017 to late January 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) had been:
