PSC Proposes Rule Change Utility Said Was Needed For POR To Be Implemented
The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com
The District of Columbia PSC has formally proposed a rule change concerning natural gas enrollments that Washington Gas Light had said was needed for the rules to be consistent with its pending new purchase of receivables program, and to allow the POR program to be implemented
Under the PSC's proposed new rule, "The Natural Gas Utility shall drop a customer from its current supplier when another supplier enrolls the customer and shall process an electronic transaction for enrollment regardless of whether the customer is currently supplied by another supplier or by the utility. Enrollments shall be processed on a first-in basis during any given month."
WGL has previously said such a methodology is used in Maryland, where the utility currently operates a POR program
WGL had previously warned that absent the rule change proposed above, POR implementation could be delayed
