The National Energy Marketers Association has released a draft agenda with session topics for its upcoming Mid-Atlantic Energy Summit to be held July 25-26 in Baltimore, Md.

On July 26, NEM will host an open discussion of issues facing retail suppliers in the Mid-Atlantic, including opening remarks from various regulators on the "State of their States", with a review of important regulatory and legislative initiatives impacting Mid-Atlantic retail market participation, and recommendations and advice to the competitive supplier community

Following such remarks, regulators and retail energy thought leaders will engage in a review of the current and future markets, discussing issues including:

• Timely Consumer Pricing Signals and Robustness of Switching Process

• Reasonable Consumer Protection, Data Privacy and Marketing Standards

• Regulatory Certainty Enhances Private Investments to Serve Consumers

• Establishment and Availability of Dedicated Commission Offices and Staff for Competitive Market Issues

• Regulatory Changes That Can Enhance Competitive Suppliers Ability to Offer Consumers an Array of Innovative Commodity and Energy-Related Value-Added Service Offerings

• Current barriers - Billing Constructs, Presumption that Consumers Begin as Default Service Customers

• Non-discriminatory, Open Access to Utility Infrastructure to Deliver Value-Added Product Offerings and Technologies

• Participation in the PJM Wholesale Electric Market

Prior to July 26's open session, NEM will convene a policy meeting for its executive committee and members only on July 25 to discuss various issues facing the industry, including current New York proceedings, and the opening of new markets to customer choice
