The Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority scheduled a technical meeting for Thursday, July 5, 2018 to discuss the May 21, 2018 Motion for Clarification submitted by The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource Energy in Docket No. 14-07-19RE01 - PURA Investigation into Redesign of the Residential Electric Billing Format - Billing Format Clarifications, and to discuss requiring electric suppliers to provide the next cycle rate to the electric distribution companies (EDC) on a monthly basis.
PURA directed that the EDCs shall provide witnesses that are prepared to answer the following questions at the meeting: 1) are EDC systems currently configured to handle suppliers providing the next cycle rate to EDCs on a monthly basis, with a next cycle rate that reflects the billing rate two months in advance as described in the August 12, 2015 Decision in the instant docket; 2) if not, how long will it take the EDC to implement a system able to accommodate updates from suppliers on a monthly basis, what is required to implement such a system, and what is the cost entailed; 3) if a supplier were to fail to provide the next cycle rate on a monthly basis, are EDC systems currently able to insert "Not Provided," "Contact Supplier," or some similar phrase, or leave the field blank on a customer’s bill; and 4) if not, what is entailed in formatting the EDC system accordingly, how long would it take to format, and what is the cost?
