Astral Energy Acquiring Book Of Customers

Astral Energy, LLC is acquiring a book of customers from National Choice Energy, LLC (NCE)

The companies have notified the Pennsylvania PUC of the assignment of NCE’s Pennsylvania electricity generation supply customer contracts to Astral.

Astral will assume NCE’s contracts as they stand. Accordingly, customers will experience no change in terms or conditions for the duration of their contracts. NCE does not apply fees for customers who leave prior to the end of their contract, and Astral will honor this provision as well.

After the assignment, NCE will have no customers in Pennsylvania. NCE stated that it will remain in active operation to serve its load at least until such time as all customers are transitioned to Astral, and thereafter will determine whether it will continue to operate in Pennsylvania. As such, NCE said that the notice of the assignment should not be considered a notice of cessation pursuant to 52 Pa. Code § 54.41. Any such decision will be separately made by NCE if and when appropriate.

Per NCE's website, NCE's only other service area had been Michigan for natural gas. NCE recently filed to relinquish its Michigan natural gas supplier license, stating that it was not currently serving any customers in Michigan. It was unclear if NCE sold its Michigan book or allowed any Michigan contracts to naturally unwind, or if it never commenced service in Michigan.
