Founder Of Texas Retail Provider Launching New Retail Supplier

The founder of a former Texas retail electric provider is among the partners of start-up retail supplier Thermo Choice, LP

Thermo Choice, LP has applied for a Georgia natural gas marketer certificate. Consideration of the Georgia PSC's Staff recommendation that a certificate be granted to Thermo Choice was included on the consent agenda of today's PSC meeting. A final order was not immediately available.

According to Thermo Choice's application, the partners of Thermo Choice are Houssam "Sam" Abdallah and Simon Melhem

Melhem, who also serves as CEO of Thermo Choice, was founder and CEO of Dynowatt, LP. Melhem also previously served as Chief Commercial Officer at Utility Choice, one of the first independent REPs in the State of Texas. Melhem also held several senior roles at El Paso Corporation, including as Senior Vice President, Global LNG, and Vice President, El Paso Asia, and previously served as senior financial analyst at Texaco’s Cogeneration and Power Division

Since 2009, Melhem has served as CEO and Managing Director of Moya Holdings Company BSC, an international water treatment and supply investment holdings company, and Moya Holdings Asia Ltd., a publicly listed company on the Singapore stock exchange.

Camillo Calvo serves as Chief Operating Officer at Thermo Choice. Calvo has over a decade of experience in the Georgia retail natural gas market with competitive suppliers.

Abdallah also serves as Chief Sales Officer at Thermo Choice. Abdallah has significant experience with competitive pre-paid wireline telecommunications services in Georgia.

Thermo Choice plans to serve all customer classes in Georgia, including residential customers.

In its application, Thermo Choice stated that it will not offer prepaid services

Shell Energy North America, L.P. will be Thermo Choice’s exclusive supplier of natural gas in Georgia.
