Updated: Second Texas Retail Provider Files To Serve As Volunteer POLR

Update, 8/2:

Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. ("CNE") filed with the Texas PUC a request to serve as a volunteer POLR (VREP) pursuant to P.U.C. SUBST. R. 25.43 (i).

Constellation NewEnergy said that it is willing to serve a number of ESI IDs by customer class by POLR area filed under seal

As noted in our story below, no REP has served as a volunteer POLR in the market since 2011

Earlier (8/1):

TXU Energy Retail Company LLC (REP Certificate No. 10004) filed a request with the Texas PUC to be designated as a volunteer provider of last resort (VREP) for the 2019-2020 term

Per publicly available filings as of July 31, the deadline to request designation as a volunteer POLR, TXU is the only REP to make such a request for the 2019-2020 term

The request is also the first request by any REP to serve as a volunteer POLR since the 2011-12 term. There has not been a volunteer POLR in the Texas market since that volunteer POLR withdrew its volunteer status in August 2011

Per a description on the PUCT's online docket interchange, Constellation NewEnergy, Inc. has made a filing, dated August 1 for interchange purposes (filed date may be earlier), described as "2018 VREP Request" and "Confidential- 2018 VREP Request Bate Stamp 1-17". However, as the electronic version of the public part of the filing is not yet available, it cannot, at this time, be confirmed that the substance of the filing is a request to be a VREP

TXU requested to serve as a VREP for a number of electric service identifiers (ESI IDs) in each of certain customer classes and POLR service areas that were filed under seal
