Draft Order Would Open Investigation Of Retail Supplier's Marketing

The Connecticut PURA has posted a draft order to investigate the marketing practices of Connecticut-based Discount Power, Inc.
The draft does not constitute final agency action and will be considered at a future PURA meeting
The draft states, "The Authority has been presented with numerous customer allegations against Discount, including complaints that Discount: a) represented itself as the electric distribution company The Connecticut Light and Power Company d/b/a Eversource (Eversource) in its marketing campaigns; b) utilized a prerecorded telephone message representing itself as Eversource; c) did not clearly indicate in telemarketing calls that the call emanated from Discount; d) misrepresented potential savings in its marketing; e) violated Conn. Gen. Stat. § 16-245o by making unfair, and deceptive misrepresentations in its marketing; f) violated third-party verification procedures required by Conn. Gen. Stat. § 16-245s."
