Start-Up, Blockchain-Focused REP GridPlus Begins Serving Customers In Texas

Blockchain-focused GridPlus Texas Inc. announced that it has begun flowing power to its first four customers in Texas

As previously reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com (see story here), GridPlus is a start-up which has generally emphasized an approach using artificial intelligence and blockchain technology

However, as previously reported, its initial Texas business will not include certain aspects (prepay, peer-to-peer sales) that its general business model has described

During the application process for its Texas REP certificate, GridPlus stated that it had no intent to enter the prepaid market in the near future, but that if plans change, GridPlus would notify the Commission as required by rule. GridPlus will not collect deposits or advance payments from customers.

During the application process, GridPlus also stated that it does not plan to offer direct customer-to-customer sales of electricity in the near future (see story here).

GridPlus is engaged in an alpha program with a select number of participants, testing various products. GridPlus detailed its alpha plans in a recent blog post here
