The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

September was another month in which the net number of residential electric customers on competitive supply decreased by more than 10,000 customers, according to the latest stats on PA Power Switch

From late August to late September (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of residential electric customers on competitive supply statewide decrease by 10,200 accounts. That's marginally down from the net decline of 12,000 customers from late July to late August, and in-line with the monthly net declines in residential shopping seen since May of this year

From late August to late September, all of the seven large EDCs saw a net decline in residential shopping

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late August 2018 to late September 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (567)
Met-Ed (1,493)
PECO (3,336)
Penelec (1,174)
Penn Power (572)
PPL (2,264)
West Penn Power (778)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late July 2018 to late August 2018 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (182)
Met-Ed (1,363)
PECO (5,029)
Penelec (1,449)
Penn Power *
PPL (2,838)
West Penn Power (1,556)

*Note: While in the August stats, Penn Power's numbers were labeled as from 8/29/18, all data, both total and by customer class, were identical to the 7/25/18 data, so it's unclear if Penn Power's August data was updated.
