RESA Asks Regulator To Institute Quarterly Supplier Working Group Meetings To Address Retail Market Issues

The Retail Energy Supply Association has filed a request with the Connecticut Utilities Regulatory Authority asking that PURA establish a quarterly meeting schedule of the Supplier Working Group to discuss one or more of the following topics:

• License Review Application

• Rate Board improvements

• 2018 Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) change impacts (e.g., disclosure label changes, etc.)

• Voluntary renewable product offerings

• Structure and accuracy of default service comparisons for customers and as a measuring stick of market performance;

• Consumer awareness/education outreach opportunities

• Other potential retail market enhancements (e.g., grid modernization, Enroll with Your Wallet, etc.).

RESA noted that a supplier working group meeting has not been held in over a year

"With the working group in place, stakeholders are able to identify market trends, discuss matters in a more open forum than a technical meeting or hearing can provide (while still ensuring compliance with notice and due process requirements), and agree on actions that could correct potential issues before they become widespread," RESA said

RESA asked that supplier working group meetings be scheduled to be held "at least" quarterly.
