PSC Extends Deadline For Retail Supplier Compliance With New Mandatory Supplier Education Workshops

The District of Columbia PSC has extended the implementation date and compliance requirements of the Electricity and Natural Gas Supplier Education Workshops ("Workshop") until April 1, 2019.

As previously reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, the Commission recently promulgated new rules governing Electricity and Natural Gas Suppliers which became effective on September 28, 2018. Pursuant to 15 DCMR § 4603, (Electricity Supplier Education Workshop), and 15 DCMR § 4703, (Natural Gas Supplier Education Workshop), current and new supplier licensees are required to take and complete a Commission sponsored online Workshop intended to ensure that suppliers have a proficient understanding of the Commission’s supplier licensing rules.

According to §§ 4603 and 4703, a Current Electricity or Natural Gas Supplier Licensee is given 90 days following the effective date of the Electricity and Natural Gas Supplier Rules to satisfy the Workshop requirements. A New Licensee is given 90 days following the award of its supplier license to satisfy the Workshop requirements.

The PSC said that, currently, the supplier Workshop questions and materials are under development and review.

As such, the Commission has decided to extend the date for complying with the Workshop requirement until April 1, 2019.

The PSC specifically ordered that, "The implementation date and compliance requirements of 15 DCMR § 4603, Electricity Supplier Education Workshop, and 15 DCMR § 4703, Natural Gas Supplier Education Workshop, for Current and New Licensees are extended until April 1, 2019."
