The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

AEP Texas and Rio Grande Electric Cooperative (RGEC) have reached a settlement under which existing customers of AEP Texas in the Uvalde Estate Subdivision, who are served by retail electric providers, may continue to be served by AEP Texas and such REPs

As previously reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com, the Texas PUC has ruled that parts of the Uvalde Estate Subdivision which is served by AEP Texas is singly certificated to RGEC. The PUCT had set a second phase of the proceeding to determine how to treat such customers. RGEC had said that it has identified at least 88 meters in the area in which the PUCT ruled that AEP Texas is not grandfathered to serve

The settlement would resolve the dispute by transferring to AEP Texas' service area the Uvalde area currently singly certificated to RGEC in which AEP Texas is currently serving customers, to allow the subject area and existing customers to continue to be served by AEP Texas

In exchange, AEP Texas would transfer to RGEC certain areas known as the Faith Ranch tract and a portion of the Hughes Ranch tract. Service to existing customers will not be impacted by these boundary changes

Dockets 47186, 48873
