Deadline Extended For Comments In Massachusetts Retail Market Investigation

The Massachusetts DPU has extended until March 8 the deadline for comments regarding the DPU's wide-ranging investigation into customer protection rules and related issues in the retail electric market (D.P.U. 19-07)

Among other things, the DPU is considering expanding marketing rules, expansion of the rules to small C&Is and the gas market, placing more supplier contract info on utility bills, a "Do not Switch" list, and various other customer protections and retail market enhancements

The comment deadline had previously been February 19

The Department of Energy Resources of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has requested the extension, stating, "In this proceeding, the Department has posed a range of important questions related to improving the protections provided to residential customers related to the marketing and delivery of competitive suppliers’ product offerings. The Department has also indicated that it anticipates and hopes for significant interest in this proceeding. In order to provide sufficient time for thorough and detailed written comments to add value to the proceeding and better inform the Department’s investigation, the DOER requests additional time to respond. In addition, no party intending to respond to the Department’s NOI will be harmed by the Department granting this request."
