ERCOT To Convene Energy Storage Workshop (Settlements, Planning, More)

At the last ERCOT TAC meeting, stakeholders discussed ERCOT conducting a workshop so market participants can start developing a list of issues that need to be addressed for the proper integration of storage into the ERCOT system.

A storage workshop scheduled for Tuesday April 23rd, which is the day before the April TAC.

ERCOT circulated a preliminary list of storage issues to be addressed to generate discussion and identification by stakeholders of other issues

Among other things, ERCOT's preliminary list of storage issues to be addressed includes:

• Price settlement for charging and discharging

• Metering requirements

Planning

• Assumptions for capacity reporting

• Modeling requirements and assumptions for Transmission Planning Studies

Resource/Technology Definitions

• New resource category, What technologies are included

• How to address hybrid units

Market

• AS provision from Storage Resource (consideration of state of charge)

• ORDC Reserve contribution from Storage Resource (Online and Off-line)

• Storage Resource bids and offers

• Storage Resource submission time-lines for bids/offers
