The rate of the net decline in the number of residential electric customers on competitive supply in Pennsylvania slowed during March, according to the latest stats from the Pennsylvania PUC

From late February to late March (reporting date varies slightly by utility), Pennsylvania saw the aggregate number of residential customers on competitive supply decline by 6,000 accounts, compared to the net loss of 9,700 accounts from late January to late February

Moreover, the net decline of 6,000 residential shoppers was the lowest monthly net decline since April 2018, where the net loss was 4,500 shopped accounts.

While all of the seven large EDCs once again saw a net decline in residential migration from late February to late March, PPL saw a significant slowing of its net loss of residential shoppers.

Specifically, from late February to late March, PPL saw the number of residential customers on competitive supply decline by only 900 accounts, versus the decline of 4,200 accounts from late January 2019 to late February 2019, and the decline of 5,200 accounts from late December 2018 to late January 2019. The March 2019 decline of only 900 residential shoppers at PPL was the lowest decline since April 2018

The change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late February 2019 to late March 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (522)
Met-Ed (755)

Penn Power (169)
PPL (921)
West Penn Power (756)

For comparison, the change in the number of residential customers on competitive supply at each large utility from late January 2019 to late February 2019 (reporting date varies slightly by utility) was:

Duquesne Light (338)
