Reporting by Paul Ring • ring@energychoicematters.com

The following story is brought free of charge to readers by EC Infosystems, the exclusive EDI provider of EnergyChoiceMatters.com

Drift Marketplace, Inc. applied for a District of Columbia electric broker/aggregator license limited to serving commercial and industrial customers

Drift originally launched as an ESCO in New York providing subscription service under which it passed-through wholesale generation prices, primarily from bilateral contracts, with supplemental purchases as needed.

However, as exclusively reported by EnergyChoiceMatters.com last year (see story here), Drift is shifting its focus away from retail supply in favor of brokering

Drift last year had stated, "Over the course of this year ... the focus of the Company's products and services has shifted from provider of electricity to retail customers to an approach targeting wholesale generators and offering brokerage services between generators and retail suppliers."
