Bulb, a U.K. retail energy supplier which describes itself as the U.K.'s biggest green supplier, announced its international expansion plans

EnergyChoiceMatters.com had exclusively reported in April that a Bulb subsidiary was entering the U.S. market and had applied for a Texas REP certificate

Apart from Texas, Bulb also announced expansion of its retail energy business to France and Spain

"We’re starting with a soft launch for family and friends later this year, followed by a full launch early next year," Bulb said

Bulb supplies more than 1.3 million members in the U.K.

"We’re calling France, Spain and Texas the ‘first wave’ of Bulb International. Once we’ve got going, we’ll be looking to bring Bulb to other places in the world where affordable, renewable energy could help people to save on bills and cut carbon," Bulb said

"You may be wondering what Bulb will look like in these new places. And to be honest, we’re still figuring out a lot of the details. What we can share is that we’ll be keeping the fundamentals the same. Just like in the UK, we’ll supply 100% carbon-neutral energy in all these countries. We’ll let you know specific arrangements for renewable electricity and green gas later on. And while we haven’t worked out tariff details, we’ll be providing green energy at significantly lower cost than the typical energy bill in these countries. We’ll be taking the technology we’ve developed in the UK with us, which helps us to keep costs low while delivering excellent service," Bulb said

In the U.K., Bulb touts that it only offers a single tariff (plan) for each commodity, which Bulb says is one of the lowest on the market, renewable or not. Bulb does not charge exit fees.

Bulb further states, "Too many suppliers tease customers in with low fixed tariffs before moving them on to an expensive standard tariff a few months down the line. We don't think that's right."

"With our single, 'Vari-Fair' tariff, you know you're always on our best possible price. And that price reflects the true cost of energy. When wholesale energy costs move, so does our tariff. If they go up, we work hard to limit increases to our members and always give 60 days notice. And if they go down, we quickly pass those savings on to you," Bulb states of its U.K. offer
